been a while

It's been two years and I haven't posted at all. Well it's about damn time.
I was really surprised to find this little guy at an estate sale recently. It's a wind up kappa! Made by Tomy toys in 1977. Not only is this thing over thirty years old it still works! I had some of the Tomy wind up toys when I was a kid so it was surprising to find a kappa. Kappa are mythological creatures from Japan who live in streams. Sometimes they are mischievous, sometimes they are like elven sprites. Kind of an odd import in the 70's. Glorious find.

Well this is my first crack at blogging. I'll try to keep the ranting to a minimum and just post about something we can all kind of relate to: buying things.
I have strange consuming habits as I'm sure a lot of people do. The kinds of things that fascinate me are odd, strange, macabre, things that tend to stand out. I buy a lot of used stuff and junk and trinkets. I'll focus on this instead of having an outright agenda or message. These things are kind of a vice of mine. A lot of this crap i can totally do without. its kind of like letting someone in on a secret. and sometimes some of this stuff can be a fix for something bigger and really save me money or end up being a big score in a DIY kind of way.
